Why IXSOR exists.
A consultancy built for the firms BigLaw consultants don't return calls from. Practical AI implementation, scoped to the size of a real practice, priced for a real budget, delivered in weeks not quarters.

Most AI consultancies serving the legal industry chase BigLaw and corporate in-house teams. The economics make sense for them — longer contracts, larger budgets, repeat business inside a single client. The result is that solo, small, and mid-sized firms — practitioners who serve most Americans, who run most active matters in this country — get stuck choosing between a one-hour vendor demo and a six-figure consulting engagement that wasn't built for them. IXSOR is built for the gap. Practical AI implementation, scoped to a real practice, priced for a real budget, delivered in weeks not quarters. No vendor relationships. No retainer pressure. No tool we recommend that we get paid to recommend.
[ YOUR ROLE ]
You are the attorney. Judgment, ethics, client relationships, the practice of law — yours.
[ OUR ROLE ]
We are the technologists. Tools, governance, workflow, vendor terms, data classification — ours.
What we believe ///
— 01 —
AI is a tool, not a strategy.
Strategy comes from understanding the practice — the matters, the clients, the staff, the economics. Tools come last. We do not start an engagement by telling you which platform to buy.
— 02 —
The bar is ahead of the courts.
ABA Formal Opinion 512 and the December 2025 Task Force second report already give practitioners enough to act on. Operationalizing existing ethics rules matters more than waiting for new ones. Most firms are not behind on the rules — they are behind on the work of applying them.
— 03 —
Vendor-agnostic is the only honest position.
A consultancy that takes vendor commissions is selling you the vendor, not the answer. We do not take referral fees, kickbacks, or volume rebates from any AI vendor. The recommendation we deliver is the recommendation we'd make if we were paying.
— 04 —
Small firms do not need BigLaw frameworks.
A 200-page AI policy designed for a 4,000-attorney firm is worse than no policy for a 4-attorney firm — it gets ignored, and ignored policies are worse evidence than no policies at all. We build frameworks that fit a real letterhead and a real client docket.
— 05 —
Restraint is a feature.
The right answer is sometimes "use less AI, not more" — or "this matter shouldn't touch AI at all." We say so when it applies. The cheapest engagement we can run is one where we tell you the AI you have is fine and the policy you need is short.

IXSOR is a small consultancy based in Raleigh, North Carolina, run by technologists who have been advising on AI decisions in legal practice since 2020 — six years of the work before the firm became a formal entity. Backgrounds across legal technology, software engineering, and process consulting. We started IXSOR after watching solo and small-firm clients get sold AI products built for problems they didn't have, by consultancies that weren't going to return their calls a quarter later.
